How to set up your blog



1)   Go to www.blogger.com and enter your school e-mail address and password.

2)   Create a “limited Blogger profile.” (Do not create a Google + profile.)

3)   Choose your display name which is your first and last name with no spaces.

4)   Continue to blogger.

5)   Click “New Blog” box.

6)   Create a clever title which reflects the focus of your blog.

7)   Your “address” is your first and last name with the last two numbers of your graduation year.  Example: katiehardeman14

8)   Select a template.  This can be changed later.

9)   Click “Create Blog.”

10)                   Click on the title of your blog (above where it says “Start blogging” in order to go to your dashboard.  The dashboard is where you can change the settings and look of your blog. 

11)                   Click “Settings” on the left column.

12)                   Find Privacy tab where it says “Listed on Blogger. Visible to search engines” and press the “Edit” button.

13)                   Choose “No” for both questions and save changes.

14)                   Under “Permissions” and “Blog Readers”, click “Edit.” (next to the word anybody)

15)                   Select “Only these readers” and save changes.  We will add readers later.

16)                   In order to make your blog “fancy”, use the “Layout” button on the toolbar on the left.  You can add “gadgets” in order to add pictures and other creative features.   You can also find other free layouts to make your blog unique.  Follow the instructions found on websites such as “Hot Bliggity Blog” and “Cutest Blog on the Block.”  You can find other such sites by Googling “Free blog layouts for blogspot.”

17)                   Click “Save Arrangement” when you are finished.

18)                   Once your blog is arranged, it’s time for your first “Post.” Select the “Posts” button on the toolbar on the left and click “Create a new post.” 

19)                  Your first post will be your favorite joke.  You choose the title.  The whole class will be reading these jokes so make sure that your joke is funny and APPROPRIATE.   

20)                   Click the orange “Publish” button and view your published post.  Congratulations!  You have a blog!
